Tuesday 26 January: Sydney celebrates Australia Day better than anywhere else.  Walsh Bay is perfectly positioned to make the most of it.  With activities on the Harbour, in the CBD, at Barangaroo and Darling Harbour, Walsh Bay residents have easy access to it all, without the crowds of people.

HARBOUR ACTIVITIES
            

7.30 am - WugulOra Morning Ceremony - Barangaroo Headland Park - WugulOra, a special moment to commence Australia Day in Sydney, is a ceremonyWugulOra Morning Ceremony - Photo credit Sharon Hickey
celebrating Australia’s traditional custodians. Includes the raising of the Aboriginal Flag on the Harbour Bridge and the National Anthem sung in English and Aboriginal, by Jessica Mauboy.
11am - 11.40am - Ferrython: - 9 Sydney Ferries will be all dressed up to race from the Harbour Bridge, around Shark Island and Back to the Harbour Bridge.
Midday - Salute to Australia: - A 21 Gun Salute from North Sydney.
12.05pm - Tug and Yacht Ballet - A fleet of Yachts and 2 powerful Tugs dance to classical music in an awesome display of boat handling.
12.15pm  - Cruising Concert - 2 barges will be cruising the harbour with live performances.
Enormous Horns - Dawes Point @12.15; OPT @ 12.30; Barangaroo 2.10 - 2.40pm
Junkyard Beats - Barangaroo @ 12.35; Dawes Point @ 12.50; OPT @ 1.10; Athol Bay 2.15-2.45pm.
12.45pm - Australia Day Parade - Private Vessels join some of Sydney's most iconic vessel to dress up and parade around the Harbour.  To join the flotilla register here
1pm - Tall Ships Race- Always spectacular to watch, historic tall ships race on Sydney Harbour amongst a huge spectator fleet.

CBD ACTIVITIES

       

 
GIO OZ DAY 10K Wheelchair Race - From 9am, the world's finest wheelchair athletes compete at speeds of upto 60km/h.  Hickson Road will be CLOSED to cater for the event from 7am - midday.
Darling Harbour - From 9.15am, a full program of events up to the Fireworks at 9.15pm.
Rocks - Markets from 11am and Music from 12.30-6.30pm at First Fleet Park, Atherden St and George St.
Festival Village - from Midday - Midnight enjoy Music and Circus Performances in Hyde Park.
KIIS FM Swing - 10.30am - 3pm - at Hickson Road Reserve (next to Park Hyatt Hotel)
Vintage Bus Service - For a gold coin donation, catch an old fashioned double decker from Opera House to Central (stops in between).

 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Deckchair Arts

13 March 2016 - 1-4pm: Walsh Bay Arts and Commerce presents the second instalment so be prepared to be inspired again by vibrant collaborations from a wide range of exciting performers. 
The well-loved deckchairs from The Sydney Writer’s Festival will return to Simmer on the Bay so take a seat and enjoy what magnificent Harbourside Walsh Bay does best: good food, fine wine and an exciting line up  of  performers to spice up your Sunday afternoon. 
While you’re feasting your eyes on the performance showcase you can also feast on the delicious fare that Simmer on the Bay is renowned for. Graze your way through tables filled with chef Brigid Kennedy’s special creations using produce from her Southern Highlands farm in the ultimate paddock to plate experience.  A glass of sparkling and gelato should cool things down as the sun sets over the water.
 
Join Walsh Bay Arts and Commerce on March 13th, at Deckchair Arts.
1-4pm at Simmer on the Bay – Shore 2/3, 13 Hickson Rd, Walsh Bay
Tickets: $75
Included in the ticket is entertainment and significant canapés.
A bar is on location and alcohol is on consumption.

Sad News

Deputy Mayor Robyn Kemmis: The Walsh Bay Precinct remembers Robyn Kemmis who unexpectedly passed away in December.  
Robyn was a strong supporter of the Precinct at Council.  
The Precinct Association would like to acknowledge her contribution to Progress in the Precinct.
Robyn's positivity and support will be missed by all who knew her.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

"BEST EVER" is the quote we hear the most after the 2015 Precinct Christmas Party.  
It is a tribute to the amazing Community Spirit developed in Walsh Bay that residents, businesses, staff and contractors all come together to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
The Photo Booth proved to be popular.  Anybody who wants a digital copy of their photo can request one from the Precinct Manager.

5 Feb - 3 March: Following the success of the first group exhibition, we have scheduled a few solo exhibitions in 2016. The first one will be Zhang Xiao's solo scheduled in February. It is a special exhibition for Chinese New Year.

It is 40 years since China opened its doors to the world after Mao in 1976. Socioeconomic changes have dramatically shifted Chinese culture. Some things have been lost and others remain the same. Life goes on. The Road Home is a selection from Zhang Xiao’s works over the last 10 year.

Hickson Road Closure

Australia Day 7am - Midday: A number of Road Closures affect the City on Australia Day.  Hickson Road is Closed for the GIO 10K Wheelchair Race.
