Precinct News

May 2016

16 May - 22 May: A highlight of the Walsh Bay Cultural Calendar is the Sydney Writers Festival.  The Festival brings a huge number of literary fans to the Precinct and provides an exciting week combining books, talks, lectures and great food.
My Perfect Festival is a great way to enjoy a selection of the Artistic Director’s Festival highlights and relax between events at the SWF private lounge at Walsh Bay.
Each day pass includes tickets to four Walsh Bay events handpicked by Jemma Birrell plus access to the SWF private lounge on Pier 2/3 with complimentary food, tea, coffee and soft drinks available throughout the day, and a complimentary drink at The Hemingway Bar. More ...
Nights at the Wharf: Pier 2/3 stays alive and after sundown the Festival gets a little bibliofriendly. From the outrageously educational Night of the Nerds to an interview with the inimitable Magda Szubanski and hilarious performances, poetry and discussions on the Club Stage, evenings are the time to let your hair down and get some literary healing. And be sure to join us for the adults-only Late Night Salon in The Hemingway Bar for uninhibited conversations with our most intrepid Festival guests.  More ...

27 May - 18 June:  An extra week this year to ensure everybody gets the most out of vivid.  Vivid provides a welcome boost to the restaurants and cafes of Walsh Bay at a time of year traditionally quieter due to colder weather.
Walsh Bay will host 13 installations stretching from Pier One to Pier 8/9.  There will be mix of interactive, passive installations including some in the water.
Walsh Bay is a great place to start or end your Vivid experience with dinner and cocktails, away from the crowds of Circular Quay.
Book early so as not to be disappointed. A full list of restaurants and bars are available HERE

On June 4th Pier 2/3 will be transformed into a Craft Market from midday to 10pm.

Sydney Harbour Control Tower: The Barangaroo Delivery Authority is soon to be deconstructing the Sydney harbour Control Tower.  In an effort to reduce the impact to Merriman St and Clyne Reserve and to reduce noise from the works, there will be a temporary closure of upper Clyne Reserve, including the playground.
At this stage, it is expected that upper Clyne Reserve will be closed for at least five months from May until early October.
