The NSW Government announced the completion of Wharf 4/5 of the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct in December 2020. This milestone signals the return of six resident arts companies, with brand new theatres, rehearsal spaces, studios and administration facilities.
The revitalisation of Wharf 4/5 includes:
Brand new theatres, rehearsal spaces, studios and administration facilities for all resident companies
New stairs, external lifts and balconies, which have been designed as a contemporary interpretation of the original gantries reflecting the precinct’s former industrial heritage
Refurbishments to the bar at the end of the Wharf, including re-purposing heritage timber beams to create a new bar top
New commercial spaces and retail opportunities
Installation of around 900 solar panels greatly enhancing sustainability.
