This month we introduce Pier One’s Gina Demetriou. Gina joined the hotel in January as Director of Sales and Marketing from Double Bay’s InterContinental Sydney. Here she shares insight into her new role, what’s coming up and working in Walsh Bay.

“No one day is ever the same at the hotel, but what remains constant is daily time with my team, time to meet with potential customers and in-house guests as well as collaboration meetings with hotel partners.

The thing that I love most about my job is the endless opportunities to bring the hotel to life through partnerships, activations and innovation. Most importantly I get to work with an amazing team from my senior colleagues to the heart of house associates that are so focussed on ensuring we deliver an outstanding guest experience. I am inspired by the delivery of results but more so by the development and successes of the team I lead.

At Pier One Sydney Harbour we are defined by a strong people culture. This includes putting people first, pursuing excellence, acting with integrity and spirit to serve.

The key focus for the hotel this year is to continue to put Sydney at the heart of everything we do. Collaborating with the community, designing unique offerings, strengthening and forming new partnerships to deliver unique guest experiences that showcase our quintessential Sydney location. The upcoming Vivid festival creates a wonderful opportunity to showcase Walsh Bay and scheduled activations at the hotel will bring visitors to the area. New Year’s Eve is another key opportunity for the area and planning is underway to deliver a unique Sydney experience.”

Gina recently attended the first WBAC networking event of the year and sensed the unique community spirit in the area.

“In the short time that I have been with the hotel, I can certainly sense and appreciate the strong community that exists in Walsh Bay. I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to meet with the community at the recent WBAC networking event and I am really looking forward to engaging even more with the community in the future.

Walsh Bay is absolutely a unique precinct rich in culture and is an iconic visitor location.”
