A good turn out of WBAC members ensured our final event of the year, Christmas drinks at Pier One’s new pop up eatery, The Kerrigan, was celebrated in festive style. And along with the celebratory atmosphere, at least one guest came away with a new business lead.
On Monday 28 November, chamber members together with several food journalists enjoyed Pier One’s stunning waterside location while sampling choice items off The Kerrigan’s ‘smokin’ hot’ menu including Aussie fried chicken wings and gourmet burgers, fittingly accompanied by a glass of wine or bubbles.
Pier One’s General Manager, Kim Mahaffy, joined by WBAC Chair, Brigid Kennedy, personally welcomed all guests and wished everyone a very happy Christmas and New Year.
WBAC member and regular attendee at chamber networking events, We Love Jam’s Andrew Stevenson, met up with an ex-colleague on the night - a by-chance meeting he has high hopes will rekindle a business relationship.
“I guess the motto of the story is: make sure you try to attend networking events such as those put on by the WBAC. You honestly never know where things might go,” Andrew says.
In the past I’ve been to chamber networking gigs where I’ve realised there is no one there I know, or even that sits in the same camp - so to speak. And that’s ok too as on those occasions you just say g’day, have a glass of wine and enjoy some good company! Other events can be really productive and you come away with a business lead - or more if you have the time and are lucky!”.
